Music Medicine Somatic Retreat
October 10th, 2026 , 11 am - 5 pm | Guided by Erica Skone-Rees & Savannah Joy
This day is an invitation to rest. To restore. To nourish your body, awaken your creativity, and savor the joy of simply being alive—through play, song, art and music as gentle medicine for your nervous system.
October 10th | Orinda, CA. | Sliding Scale Registration
From the moment you arrive…
You’ll be invited to lay it all down—the stress, the constant thinking, the responsibilities you’ve been carrying. Through a deeply restorative sound journey, you’ll have space to soften, exhale, and let your nervous system settle.
Then, little by little, we’ll begin to fill back up.
With your own life force. With creativity. With movement. With music. With laughter. With meaningful connection. Throughout the day, you’ll gather simple practices, moments of insight, and embodied experiences that don’t just stay in the retreat room—they become something you carry home in your body, your heart, and the way you move through your everyday life.
This isn’t a retreat about fixing yourself. We won’t be excavating your past or asking you to unpack your shadows. Instead, we’ll gently set down the fixing mind and explore what becomes possible when we cultivate nervous system regulation through safety, presence, music and play.
Together, we’ll learn a different way of dancing with life. A way of befriending our mind and body, surfing the inevitable waves with greater ease, and remembering that joy, creativity, and connection aren’t luxuries—they’re essential medicine.
Come as you are. Leave feeling more like your enlivened self.
The Arc of the Day
Arrive - Connect - Soften - Restore - Nourish - Awaken - Create - Celebrate - Return
-
We’ll begin by stepping out of the busyness of everyday life and into an intentional space of presence.
-
Connect with yourself, your intentions, and the community gathering around you. Through tea, reflection, and ritual, we’ll begin weaving the threads that will hold our day together.
-
Through simple nervous system education, vagus nerve practices, mindfulness, movement, and experiential exercises, you’ll learn tools to help settle the body, quiet the noise, and reconnect with yourself.
-
A deeply restorative sound immersion weaving together crystal singing bowls, Erica’s 24-string Monolina drone instrument, chimes, percussion, and layers of live sound medicine, partnered with Savannah’s ethereal voice and intuitive vocal expression.
You’re invited to lie down, rest, receive, and allow the body to be nourished by vibration, melody, resonance, and sound.
-
Time to nourish the body, connect with others, spend time in nature, journal, or simply enjoy a quiet moment of spaciousness.
-
A guided music and movement activation woven with Savannah’s angelic voice, intuitive channeling, vocal looping, and live sound medicine.
Through sound, movement, breath, and embodied presence, participants will be invited to meet themselves exactly where they are with compassion and curiosity.
-
A loving and creative exploration designed to reconnect with gratitude, intuition, self-expression, and the creative wisdom that lives within.
No artistic experience is necessary.
This is not about performance or creating a finished product.
It is about engaging with creativity as a pathway to presence, regulation, discovery, and joy.
-
A welcoming communal singing experience rooted in rhythm, repetition, harmony, and connection.
Together we’ll raise our voices, make music, celebrate community, and reconnect with the simple joy of shared expression.
We’ll close the day in gratitude, carrying forward the inspiration, connection, and aliveness cultivated throughout our time together.
-
We’ll close the day with reflection, gratitude, and integration, honoring what has shifted and what each person will carry forward as they return to their lives.

The Space
We are gathering at Orindawoods Wood Hall, a truly special and serene setting nestled among trees and gardens in Orinda. Designed by the same architect as The Sea Ranch, this space features tall ceilings, warm wooden walls, and a deep sense of harmony with the natural landscape. Windows look out onto a pond, trees, and forested surroundings, creating a feeling of being held by nature itself. The beauty and quiet of Orindawoods lends a grounded, sacred, and elemental quality to our retreat.
I’m ready to rest & recharge
What the Day Will Feel Like
We’ll begin the day with an intentional tea ceremony and grounding practices to arrive fully into the space and into our bodies.
Throughout the day, we’ll explore experiential somatic practices, guided embodiment journeys, nervous system regulation tools, movement, creativity, music, rest, and connection.
We may dance.
We may laugh.
We may shake loose what no longer needs to be carried.
We may remember forgotten parts of ourselves.
And we will absolutely make space to rest.
Held among trees, ponds, water, and the quiet beauty of the natural world, this gathering is designed to balance activation and restoration, expression and stillness, connection and reflection.
A day to soften your nervous system, nourish your spirit, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that know how to play, create, express, and feel fully alive.
Why Joy & Play Matters
Many healing spaces focus on what hurts.
This gathering focuses on what helps us come alive.
While there is absolutely a place for processing, this day is not centered around excavating the underworld.
It is about reconnecting to the parts of ourselves that know how to play, sing, move, create, rest, and feel fully alive.
Because joy is medicine.
Creativity is medicine.
Connection is medicine.
Music is medicine.
From a nervous system perspective, play, music, creativity, and spontaneous expression are some of the deepest signs of safety and regulation available to us.
We only truly play when the body feels safe enough to soften.
We only sing freely when we feel safe enough to express.
We only create when life force energy is flowing.
This day-long journey is designed to support that unfolding.
